Why I Chose A Career In Electrolysis

Career In ElectrolysisTheresa George | Electrologist

Many times when clients come in for electrolysis they ask me what in the world made me decide on a career in electrologist. Here is a bit of history that has led me to my profession.

My Beginning

My first experience with hair removal was in my late teens. I can remember back when my grandmother asked me to help her with her beauty regimen and remove unwanted hairs from her chin. As she was in her 70s she didn’t have the best eyesight and coordination I would help her with this on a weekly basis. She had heard about electrolysis but didn’t pursue the treatments. My curiosity drove me to research a career in electrolysis and I was thrilled to find out that it was the only method of hair removal that was declared permanent by the FDA. Also, as I was starting to see some errant hair appearing on my face and a few unruly eyebrows, I thought learning permanent hair removal would be a great solution to rid me of annoying facial hair and help others look and feel beautiful

Becoming a Professional Electrolysis

At 18, decided to become an electrologist and have been practicing permanent hair removal now for over 20 years in Southwest Florida and in Michigan. Becoming an expert in this field has taken a lot time and commitment in not only understanding its application but also learning areas such anatomy and physiology of the skin, principles of electricity and treatment contraindications. Also as I earned a degree in journalism, I thought it would be beneficial to spread the word about the benefits of permanent hair removal by writing for area newspapers and beauty publications. My articles have appeared in the Fort Myers News-Press, Crain’s Detroit Business, USA Today, Eccentric publications and Women’s Healthstyle.

My electrolysis work at Theresa’s Face and Body has helped hundreds of women, men, teens and transgendered clients overcome excessive hair and other beauty obstacles.
