At Theresa’s Face and Body in Cape Coral, we have been seeing an uptick in acne and we are on a mission to clear up these problems with a variety of acne treatments! Acne is a hormonal condition that is caused by the androgenic, or male hormones. A sensitivity to the hormones in addition to bacteria and fatty acids in oil glands are the cause of acne. The common places to get acne are your back, face, chest and shoulders. Acne can result from a buildup of dead skin cells clogging the pores and an over-produced amount of sebum.
Breakout!
There have been thousands of studies performed over the last 50 years to determine what causes acne. Acne breakouts can be caused by a lot of factors. In women, acne can be caused by hormonal issues, such as their menstrual cycle. Women can also cause acne breakout by not thoroughly removing makeup before they go to bed. Another cause of facial acne is not changing your pillowcase and bedding on a regular basis.
Your diet can also contribute to acne breakouts. Food that has a high glycemic index aggravates acne, and can trigger it; another trigger is drinking milk! Food that includes carbs or starch are contributors to an acne problem.
How to Break Free From Breakouts with Acne Treatments
At Theresa’s Face and Body Cape Coral spa, there are a variety of treatments available to combat acne breakouts. We offer facials, back facials, salicylic acid peels, and more.
Facials are one of the most common methods of acne treatment. However, they, like other acne treatments, are not instant; they take the time to get results. Whether you choose a European facial or back facial, your esthetician will examine and cleanse your skin, apply an exfoliation treatment, perform extractions and apply a clay mask. The mask will be removed with hot towels and serum will be applied to the face or the back. This facial is effective in eliminating the dead cells and excess oil that contributes to acneic skin and will reveal fresh, smooth skin.
Salicylic acid peels are also a great alterative for acneic skin because they work to exfoliate the skin and dry up excess oils. A salicylic acid peel exfoliates the surface of the skin causing some slight to moderate peeling. Slight to moderate peeling may take place from three to five for a few days but the end results are worth it. After this acne treatment you will realize a smoother, clearer complexion. After a salicylic acid peel always make sure to wear SPF of at least a 30 as this new skin is vulnerable to the sun’s rays.
Whether you choose a facial or peel to combat an oily complexion, Theresa’s Face and Body Cape Coral spa has the acne treatments you need to rid yourself of embarrassing acne for good!
