Looking to improve skin imperfections such as fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks and improve keloid, surgical and acne scars? Our Microneedling service is a solution.
Micro-needling or Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure that introduces micro-injury to an area of the face. neck or body to stimulates new collagen and elastin in the treated area. The skin plumps and thickens in response to the stimulus.
Nurse Practitioner, Cyndie Grimes, performs mirconeedling at Integra Life Spa in
Fort Myers. Grimes uses a Dermapen, an electric powered device with 11 tiny 33 gage stainless steel needles held at a 90 degree angle to administer the treatment. The pen’s speed and depth is adjustable to the area being treated.
Prior to treatment, numbing cream is applied. Grimes typically does a prep of the skin with microdermabrasion or dermaplaning before micro-needling.
“This procedure delivers minimal injury to the skin with nominal down time. After treatment the area may have a mildly sunburned appearance for 24 hours and may feel tight for a couple of days,” Grimes said.
“There is no scabbing or peeling,” Grimes said.
Patients also need to avoid using makeup for 24 hours and a sunscreen of 30 or higher is recommended.
“I have seen great results with micro-needling especially for patients wanting smoother, tighter skin or the reduction of acne scars,” Grimes said.
This procedure can also be combined with other skin care treatments, she said.
Results can be seen within the first month of treatment and improvement will increase as the body produces new collagen.
Microneedling is not performed on active acne or cold sores.
