Micro needling For Acne Scarring

Facial ScarringTheresa’s Face and Body  Cape Coral Spa is in the spotlight again. In December, 2017, we were honored with the opportunity to write a column for the News-Press, a  Gannett newspaper discussing the benefits of micro-needling for facial scarring.  Excerpts from the article are below with quotes from Victoria Tabak, LE, President of Nature Pure Labs in Brooklyn, New York www.naturepure.com

Facial Scarring is a condition that can mar our appearance and can have a lasting impact on self esteem. The most common cause of facial scarring is acne vulgaris which is characterized by blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, nodules and oily skin.  Acne scarring can also appear on the chest, neck, shoulders and back. The American Academy of Dermatology states acne affects up to 50 million Americans annually.

Micro needling Improves Imperfections

Micro-needling or collagen induction therapy, is an excellent treatment to eliminate facial imperfections and rejuvenate the skin. It can be performed on people with a variety of skin tones as well as those with sensitive skin. The process is quick and delivers minimal injury to the skin.  As a result the skin heals quickly with minimal downtime.

Micro-needling is performed by and esthetician using an electric-powered pen with a single-use disposable tip that contains tiny medical grade stainless steel needles. The face is coated with a serum giving the pen glide and the pen’s speed and depth is adjustable.  Through micro-needling, hundreds of micro-channels are created in the skin.

What Others Are Saying

Victoria Tabak, LE, President of Nature Pure Labs in Brooklyn, New York said the needling process initiates a cell regenerating healing response and breaks down existing scar tissue. “The skin cells begin to regenerate at a faster rate.  This enables a boost in collagen production and more efficient new cell development,” Tabak said. The treatments should be spaced one month a part and results can be see within 30 days. For optimal benefit, a series of 6 to 12 sessions is recommended.  Micro-needling also works to remedy hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles. Tabak’s company offers a skin repair serum called Diopin Wrinkle Diffusing Serum. When applied before micro-needling, it stimulates collagen production and promotes healthy, smooth skin.  After micro-needling, Taybak suggests Revitalizing Fruit Complex to enhance soft even texture and brighten skin.  It can also be used for home care.

Jeanne Culek, age 52 of Cape Coral who had some scarring on her chin, said the procedure has been beneficial.  “I have had two treatments and the areas are starting to smooth out. I am excited for the improvements,” she said.

Scarring On Other Areas

Micro-needling can also benefit imperfections and scars on the neck, décolletage, back, arms and hands.
