Skin Care After Electrolysis Treatments
Electrolysis hair removal treatments are a popular method for permanently removing unwanted hair. While the treatments can be effective, they can also cause irritation and discomfort to the skin. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to avoid irritation after electrolysis hair removal treatments.
- 1. Use a gentle cleanser before and after treatment: Before your treatment, it is important to cleanse the area with a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt or oil that could prevent the electrolysis from working properly. After your treatment, use a gentle cleanser again in order to help soothe any irritation or redness caused by the procedure.
- 2. Apply an antiseptic cream: Applying an antiseptic cream such as Polysporin or Neosporin directly following your electrolysis session will help reduce inflammation and speed up healing time for any redness or irritation that may have occurred during treatment.
- 3. Moisturize: Moisturizing is key when it comes to avoiding irritation after an electrolysis session; look for unscented creams that are specifically designed for sensitive skin as these will be less likely to aggravate already-irritated areas of skin following your procedure.
- 4. Avoid tight clothing: Wearing tight clothing following an electrolysis session can irritate already-sensitive skin; opt for loose-fitting clothes instead until you’ve healed completely from your procedure (typically 24-48 hours).
- 5 Avoid sun exposure: Sun exposure should also be avoided immediately following an electrolysis session as this could lead to further inflammation of treated areas; if you must go out in direct sunlight, make sure you apply a high SPF sunscreen beforehand!
